Commission for
Line Art: FDE14001 - What's New Scooby Doo (Velma)
__________
Okay, it's my 161st color commission and it's another Fiction Diving Encyclopedia. This time it's featuring...featuring...? Huh...I don't recognize her. Granted, the Red-Yellow seems to be familar, that hair, and those freckles seem...I'm not sure...*thinks*...*imagines her with glasses*...OH! It's Velma from the Scooby Doo series, neat
Now I would talk about Velma and the Scooby Doo series...but let's be honest, who doesn't know who Scooby Doo is? As for my connection with the series, yeah, I like this series. I grew up with the original version on Cartoon Network and I've seen New Scooby Doo Movies, A Pup Named Scooby Doo and yes Scooby Doo on Zombie Island is a great movie. As for Velma herself, I like her...although I could never understand how she goes completely blind without her glasses. I mean don't get me wrong, I wear glasses myself as I'm near sided, but I don't go completely blind as I can see a bit. But I guess Velma has the worst vision ever.
Anyways, this Velma is based on the 2000's series, What's New Scooby Doo which I've seen a few episodes and from what I can tell, it's basically like the original series but takes place in the present time...well...as present as the early 2000's but you get the idea. If you remember in the original Scooby Doo, the diving gear in that show is...bizarre to say the least (and this coming from a guy that likes LAMA gear ) but here it's a bit more modern. Honestly nothing too much to say about the equipment itself but there's one thing that kind of confuses me. As I said, Velma wears glasses and in the scene where Fred, Daphnne and Velma gear up Velma has her glasses but when she goes diving she removes them which...meh, but the problem I have with it is after they get out of the water in a cave that's below sea level...how the heck did Velma get her glasses back? I thought the magic satchel only applies to Shaggy and Scooby but it seems that Velma has it too...go figure
Anyways, I hope you like it

Good to see her going scuba-diving mode, even she can see without her glasses on
